Waves at the City of Refuge

(Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park)

Oil on canvas

48” x 36”

A couple days before my best friend's wedding (the initial purpose of us travelling to Hawaii), we all went to the City of Refuge, which is a national park and also called Pu’uhonua o Honaunau. We spent some time touring the grounds, checking out the preserved buildings and walking a short trail. As we kept walking, the trail opened up onto volcanic rock, and we walked along that, exploring the pools of water, seeing a turtle, and marvelling at standing at the edge of the ocean.

Due to the size of this painting, photographs really don't capture the true beauty of it! If you're interested in seeing a video tour of it, or coming over in person, message me (Carly) to arrange a time!

This painting is from my first Hawaii Collection, my first painting collection of the year, and my first of the decade! It feels really magical to share this work, for me it represents the infinite possibilities we have in this life, and the outrageous colours match my outrageous goals and dreams.
