Paint By Number
Tips & Tricks
Thanks for purchasing one of my first ever Paint By Number Kits!! I am so excited to share this with you. We create everything in studio from start to finish (save for making the little paint pots out of plastic!), and dozens of hours were spent numbering the canvas for you to complete your masterpiece.
If you are reading this very message, it means you’ve picked up one of my paint by numbers before I’ve had a chance to get this page fully filled out! I’ve been working really hard at developing this product, and as I have, this page has fallen to the end of my to-do list for it. I’m hoping to have it up and running for you shortly!
In the mean time, here’s what I recommend to get started:
Start with the sky blue colours and build from there.
Do 1-3 layers of paint, judging by what covers it best. 2 should suffice for most colours.
Paint the piece from “back to front” - you can do this by using the image provided in the kit to see which ones are furthest back in the visual field (look furthest away) and work forward from that.
Throw on some music and grab your snack and drink of choice to accompany you as you paint.
FAQs
How long does the paint last?
The product has only been around since November 2021, and reportedly, paint pots from those kits are still good! So that’s at least 10 months now.
I don’t think the paint colours match! Is my kit wrong?
The paint you have in your kit is correct (unless the colours are COMPLETELY off and opposite, in which case, please email me to sort that out). The colours shown in online listings or in the images on the kit can vary in different lighting or on different screens. I mix every colour by hand to get exactly what I want and what best represents the painting that I originally made. An important component is how the colours dry on the canvas too, how they look when they are layered a couple times and completely opaque, and how they look altogether! Trust the process as you work through the kit.
What do I do when I’m done?
Grab yourself an 18” x 24” frame, and make sure your painting fits in it. If it is a little off, you can just trim up the edges to have it fit. Hang on your wall and enjoy!
I wish the paint was higher quality, can you fix that?
To make these kits I use mainly Amsterdam acrylics, mixing each of the colours by hand to get the exact hue I want for the piece. Amsterdam’s acrylic paint has great pigmentation for their standard series, and is perfect for this sort of project. We do not offer a different paint option, but if you wanted to buy expert quality acrylics and mix them yourself and paint it you are more than welcome to! I’d say at that point, you should probably consider painting your own piece ;)
