Featuring a side view of Edinburgh Castle - the name of this piece is chosen for the lore of lovers who would scale the rocks to the castle to meet in secret. A notable story of this is from the 1300’s when a former castle guard’s son knew this secret climbing route from a past love affair and shared this knowledge with Robert the Bruce’s nephew who led a group of 30 men up it to storm the castle.
The Scotland Collection is an ongoing body of work that draws visual reference from a road trip my wife and I took through Scotland in spring of 2023. It is inspired by queer ancestry and what their lives might have been like, imbued with my personal experiences of love, friendship, and queerness. Read more here.
