This painting features Dunnotar Castle; a strong fortress that has (mostly) stood the test of time. This painting draws from that strength and builds a world of idyllic isolation. One where our constructs shield us, keeping our real selves in and all threats out. Of course this too traps love in and rejects affection in turn.
The Scotland Collection is an ongoing body of work that draws visual reference from a road trip my wife and I took through Scotland in spring of 2023. It is inspired by queer ancestry and what their lives might have been like, imbued with my personal experiences of love, friendship, and queerness. Read more here.
